December 15th, 2009

This January its all about the boys in the Ultimate Comics Graphic Novel Club…

So internet voters were overruled by actual attendees of the Graphic Novel Club and the Ninth St Club will continue meeting the first Thursday of the month at 8pm.  However, Jon and Alan are definitely up for trying another group at a different time at a different location.  You should probably put a bug in their ear as such.

So anyhow, Jan. 7 2010 will be the next meeting and we will be discussing:

As many of our regulars know, the first Saturday of November marked Ultimate Comics very own Free Comic Book Day.  We also had a fundraiser to provide shipping and handling to send a bunch of comics to the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.  It was a great success.  We thank all of the people who came out.

Coming to an Ultimate Comics near you!

November 7, 2009 will mark Ultimate Comics Free Comic Day!

Not satisfied with giving the best comics fans in the world free comics only one day a year, we have decided to host our own Free Comic event.

We will have Y the Last Man, Fables, kids stuff, Captain America, etc.  Basically, just like on regular free comic day, something for everyone!

In addition we will have a very special dollar book blow out.  All of the dollar books will be at all three stores.  What makes this time out different is this will be your last chance at the millions of cheap books in our stock.  Buy them for a buck a pop or buy forty books for 20 bucks.  It matters not to us.

The other special thing about this dollar sale is that the proceeds from this sale will be used in a unique manner.  After the sale we are going to box up whatever dollar and free books we have left and ship them to our troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.  The money made from that sale will be applied to the shipping of these books.

So help your collection out by filling holes.  Help us out by getting new folks in the door and most importantly, help us send a little joy to our faithful troops!

The October meeting was delayed due to a number of circumstances.  This is good for those of you who waited to buy Resurrection, as it will be an additional ten percent through November 5, 2009 at all Ultimate Comics Locations.

That meeting will be November 5 at 7:00 pm at the Ninth Street Location.

THE END WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING…

The science fiction saga that explores the aftermath of Earth’s most brutal conflict starts here! For ten years the alien invaders have laid waste to our planet, but now they’ve vanished, leaving the surviviors with two questions–”Where did the ‘bugs’ go?” and “Where does humanity go from here?”

It’s big existential questions, edge-of-your-seat alien-fueled intrigue, and epic thrills in this collection of the original seven installments of Resurrection! (Includes issues 1-6, plus the 2008 Annual.)

Resurrection: The Insurgent Edition collects all of the black-and-white Resurrection material in conjunction with the launch of the new full color ongoing series that’s now in development as a major motion picture with Universal Studios. Created by noted writer and producer Marc Guggenheim (TV’s Eli Stone, Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man) and featuring moody art from newcomers David Dumeer and Douglas Dabbs, this book picks up where all the other alien invasion stories end.
